Teacher of different Qirā'āt

A student, who came from a far off place, was amazed to find Imām Nāfi teaching all the different qirāʾāt and questioned him about it” Imām Nāfi replied: “Why should I deprive myself of the reward of the Qurʾān? I teach all the various qirāʾāt, except if one wishes to recite my readings.”

Therefore, it is mentioned that he was not strict upon his students (that only one type of recitation will be listened to), allowing all to read to him, except if they requested to learn his readings.

For those who wanted to learn his readings then he would show some measure of concern and particular strictness.
