JUZZ-4
An-Nisaa 119: 1
I will certainly mislead them and delude them with empty hopes. Also, I will order them and they will slit the ears of cattle1 and alter Allah’s creation.” And whoever takes Satan as a guardian instead of Allah has certainly suffered a tremendous loss
In this verse laam Alif appears in different formats
Recitation Challenge: The occurrence of two different types of laam alif with application of different rules
Tajweed Tips
· In the first, it is لا, here after the laam there is Madd alif & it has to be recited as “laam with the Madd Alif” as laa
· In the second it is لأ , here after the laam there is a Hamza & it has to be recited as “laam plus Hamza” like in the example الْأنْعام (laam Saakin followed by hamza)
(other words in the same format are وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ , وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ )
· In the third, Hamza is in between laam and Alif, and has to be recited as “laam and Madd badal” as in the word
There are three shapes we can find laam with Alif in the Qur’aan.
2 An-Nisaa
O humanity! Be mindful of your Lord Who created you from a single soul, and from it He created its mate,1 and through both He spread countless men and women. And be mindful of Allah—in Whose Name you appeal to one another—and ˹honour˺ family ties. Surely Allah is ever Watchful over you.
The word وَنِسَآءًۭ (Meaning: women) occurs thrice (in this form) in the Qur’an.
Recitation Challenge: The occurrence of two different types of Madd in one word on stopping (waqf)
Tajweed Tips
· When stopping on this word, the آ madd is recited first with 4 harakat (Madd Wajib Muttasil) and then ءً is recited with 2 harakat (Madd ‘Iwad)
Note: A common mistake observed is to recite Madd wajib muttasil and stopping the Hamza fathatain with Hamza saakinah as (نِسَآءْ), this has to be avoided.
For the purpose of stopping, it is similar to the word أبَداً, so the same rule is applied.
