1-Al-An’aam : 143
˹Allah has created˺ four pairs: a pair of sheep and a pair of goats—ask ˹them, O Prophet˺, “Has He forbidden ˹to you˺ the two males or the two females or what is in the wombs of the two females? Tell me with knowledge, if what you say is true.”
The word ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِ (Meaning: (are) the two males) occurs twice in the Qur’an
Recitation Challenge: In This word, the Hamzatul Qata ءand hamzatul wasl ٱ occur consecutively in one word. There are two ways to recite it and it has to be practiced with a teacher.
Tajweed Tip: Hamzatul qata (that is questioning Hamza) is added to Hamzatul Wasl (of joining) which is in the construction of the word with "ال" (laam-ut-ta’reef).
The general rule is to not recite Hamzatul Wasl in the middle of the word. But here if it is not recited Hamzatul qata’ of questioning will sound similar to Hamzatul Wasl (of joining).
1st method (preferred option, Madd symbol visible in Mushaf): Changing the Hamzatul Wasl to Madd Alif and elongating it to Six harakah (Madd Laazim)
2nd method: To recite the second Hamza (I.e., Hamzatul Wasl) with Tasheel (between a Hamzah and an Alif, as per the way of Hafs an Aasim)
Note: Hamzatul Wasl will take a Fatha if we begin with Hamzatul Wasl..
2-Al-A’raaf : 22
So he brought about their fall through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their nakedness was exposed to them, prompting them to cover themselves with leaves from Paradise. Then their Lord called out to them, “Did I not forbid you from that tree and ˹did I not˺ tell you that Satan is your sworn enemy?”
The word ذَاقَا ٱلشَّجَرَةَ (Meaning: they both tasted of the tree) occurs oncce in the Qur’an.
Recitation Challenge: In This word, there is meeting of two sakin letters “Iltiqaa-us-Saakinain”. Care must be taken to select the correct harakah to resolve the meeting of sakin letters.
Tajweed Tip: “Iltiqaa-us-Saakinain” due to the meeting of Madd Alif (having saakin at the end) and Sheen Shaddah (sakin at the beginning) is resolved by removing the Alif Madd. (Tajweed Rule) and reciting Qaaf Fatha with Sheen Shaddah along with an “Accent” (Nabr) to indicate that there is an Alif.
