بَسَطتَ 28 : Al-Ma’idah .1

لَئِنۢ بَسَطتَ إِلَىَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِى مَآ أَنَا۠ بِبَاسِطٍۢ يَدِىَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

‎المائدة: ٢٨

If you raise your hand to kill me, I will not raise mine to kill you, because I fear Allah—the Lord of all worlds.

Occurrence: Once

The word بَسَطتَ (Meaning: you raise)

Recitation Challenge: This is a distinctive word which has a ط (with no harakat) followed by a تَ (with fatha). These two letters (ت & ط) are articulated from the same Makhraj (Mutajaanis) and hence the word has to be recited with proper sifaat and makhraj of the two letters.

Tajweed Tips:

The two Mutajaanis letters (ت & ط) have different Sifaat (characteristics) and produce different sounds.

The differences in the Sifaat are: ط is Majhoor (apparent), has isti’aala (elevation), and has itbaaq (sealed) whereas ت is mahmoos (whispered), has istifaal (lowered), and is maftuh (opened). Both letters are shadeed and have qalqalah.

The letter ط is stronger than letter ت.

To recite correctly, partial merging (Idgham naqis) of letter ط to ت, is done. The letter ط is pronounced with a Saakin without doing the Qalqalah, with the complete Tafkheem and then the letter ت is pronounced with the Fatha.

111 ٱلْحَوَارِيِّـۧنَ:-Al-Ma’idah .2

And how I inspired the disciples, “Believe in Me and My messenger!” They declared, “We believe and bear witness that we fully submit ˹to Allah˺.”

Meaning : the disciples

Occurrence: 2 times

Recitation Challenge: In This word, the letter ي appears twice consecutively in one word. The first يّ is mushaddad with kasra and the second يْ is Saakinah. Madd At-Tamkeen has to be recited with proper sifaat and rules of the two consecutive ي. Tajweed Tip: The Second ي has to be elongated to Two Vowel counts in order to avoid merging or dropping of Madd.
