1. Al- Ahzab: 36-
It is not for a believing man or woman—when Allah and His Messenger decree a matter—to have any other choice in that matter.1 Indeed, whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has clearly gone ˹far˺ astray.
The Word- ٱلْخِيَرَةُ (meaning choice) occurs twice in the quran
Recitation Challenge: Unique combination of vowels (harakahs), the letter خ has kasra and the Yaa next to it, has Fatha.
Tajweed Tip: The normal structure where we are used to is the word “خَيْر” , the letter خ with Fatha and Yaa saakinah as leen yaa. - If the Yaa saakinah is read as Madd Yaa as خِيرة it is Lahn Jalee (obvious mistake) - Care should be taken to pronounce the word properly as خ with kasra and ي with Fatha.
Special Note: Ibtida (starting) anywhere other than beginning of the verse will be Bada’ Qabeeh (Bad start) Because Allah (SWT) starts the verse with وما, with negation in order to emphasize the content. If one stops anywhere in the middle of the verse and starts from the middle, the meaning of the verse is changed. One can stop in the middle of the verse but has to start from the beginning of the verse again.
Note: By this verse we can also keep in mind that if it is Allah’s (SWT) and His Messenger’s decision we have to recite without any stops. (No right to make changes)
2. Surah Al-Ahzab :59-
O Prophet! Ask your wives, daughters, and believing women to draw their cloaks over their bodies.………………………. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
The Word : جَلَـٰبِيبِهِنَّ (meaning their cloaks) occurs once in the quran
Recitation Challenge: There are two consecutive baa’s with kasra on them.
Tajweed Tip: Recite both the baa with proper timing and mouth movement of kasra If one stops on this word then Ghunnah of noon for 2 counts must be read as it carries shaddah.
Note: When the letter has shaddah that means there are two letters , one with sakin and another with harakah so when stopping on shaddah both the letters will have sakin. If one misses the timing of ghunnah then only one noon is recited, which is lahn jalee (obvious mistake)
