1. Surah Yaseen :52-:

They will cry, “Woe to us! Who has raised us up from our place of rest? This must be what the Most Compassionate warned us of; the messengers told the truth!”

The Word : مَّرْقَدِنَا (meaning: our sleeping place) occurs once in the Qur’an

Recitation Challenge: Application of the rule of Sakta (breathless pause) in waslan (continuation)

Tajweed Tip: In the way of Hafs an Aasim recitation there are 4 waajib (required) places of sakta, to stop gently without breathing while in continuation with the next word. If the word مَّرْقَدِنَا is recited continuously with the next word هَـٰذَا then we need to pause for a while without taking a breath and continuing.

2. Surah Saad : 13 -:

Thamûd, the people of Lot, and the residents of the Forest.1 These were ˹all˺ enemy forces.

The Word : لْـَٔيْكَةِ (meaning (of) the wood) occurs four times in the Qu’ran

Recitation Challenge: To know how to begin with the word لْـَٔيْكَةِ

Tajweed Tip: This word comes in 4 places in the Quran, 2 places with the Hamzatul Wasl and 2 places without the Hamzatul Wasl. It comes with the word أَصْحَـٰبُ, in waslan (continuation) laam sakin( لْـَٔيْكَةِ ) connected with letter بُ of previous word, regardless of the presence/absence of hamzatul wasl. To do Ibtida (start) from this word ( لْـَٔيْكَةِ ) hamzatul wasl is brought & given a fatha and read as Al-Aykati (اَلْـَٔيْكَةِ).( As we find No Hamzatul wasl before this word in this ayah)

Note: It is Not to be read as لَيْكة or any other way. As to Hafs an Aasim in all the 4 places it will begin with a hamzatul wasl with a fatha.
