Juzz -18

1. Al- Mu’minoon : 46-وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ

إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا عَالِينَ ٤٦

to Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they behaved arrogantly and were a tyrannical people.

The Word- وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ (meaning: and his chiefs) occurs seven times in the Qur’an

Recitation Challenge: Application of a rule for reciting letter ي with sifr mustadeer.

Tajweed Tip: As per the way of Hafs an Aasim recitation this ي is not read in waslan or in waqfan.

Note: ⁠In the mushaf, Sifr Mustadeer is indicated by the circled zero on the ي Care has to be taken to avoid reciting it, as yaa madd. Sifr mustadeer can be written on alif , yaa or waaw.

2.Al-Mu’minoon - 115- عَبَثًۭا

أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ عَبَثًۭا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ

Did you then think that We had created you without purpose, and that you would never be returned to Us?

The word – عَبَثًۭا (meaning: without purpose) occurs once in the Qur’an

Contemplation: In the previous verses Allah (SWT) informs us how much time human beings waste in their short lives of this world by failing to obey Allah (SWT) and worship him alone. Then Allah (SWT) mentions that He did not create His Servants in vain ⁃ أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَـكُمْ عَبَثاً (Did you think that We had created you in play) means, `did you think that you were created in vain, with no purpose, with nothing required of you and no wisdom on Our part' Or it was said that "in play" meant to play and amuse yourselves, like the animals were created, who have no reward or punishment. But you were created to worship Allah and carry out His commands.
