Imam Shu’ba’s keenness to learn the words of Allah

In his early days of reading, Imam Shu'bah was advised by his teacher to read only one ayah per day, in order to ensure accuracy and lasting retention. Imam Shu'bah initially found this task daunting as it meant completing the entire Quran would take several years. Imam Shu'bah expressed his concerns to his teacher Imam Aasim, he was reminded that the goal was to ensure precise reading. Eventually, after some time, Imam Shu'bah was allowed to recite five ayat a day, which took him over two or three years to finish the Quran. Nowadays, It's common for students to expect to recite more than five ayat recitations daily. However, the advice given to Imam Shu'bah was not only intended for the early stages of reading but until Surah Naas. The situation highlights the level of patience required from both students and teachers, which seems to be lacking in today's era where students often complain about the amount they are expected to recite.

May we be guided by the example of our esteemed scholars with the assistance and help of Allah.
