Imām 'Āṣim’s ( رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ) Humbleness and love for students

Imam Abu Zaid (a student of Imām 'Āṣim ( رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ), narrated that

“ Whenever I could not go to Imām 'Āṣim for studying, Imām 'Āṣim would come to my home to check on my well-being”.

This incident describes the concern Imām 'Āṣim ( رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ) had for his students that he went on his own to enquire about their health and general status.

Imām 'Āṣim (رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ) made it a point to travel to different places and teach so that students from other cities and towns could benefit from his expertise, he made his knowledge more available to all. His advice to students was

“O my son, busy yourself with teaching and learning”

O students of knowledge, do follow this hadith.

The Prophet (ﷺ), said:

“The best of charity is when a Muslim man gains knowledge, then he teaches it to his Muslim brother.”

— Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 1, Book 1, Hadith 243
