Punctuality

Imām Shuʿbah was extremely punctual in his lessons with Imām ʿĀṣim, going to him in extreme heat or cold, and even when it rained heavily. Sometimes the water level would be up to his hips and it would be extremely difficult to walk but he persisted consistently.

Be it heat, rain, spring, or autumn, his quest and thirst for knowledge never stopped.

Do reflect on this poem by Ahmed bin Faris Al-Razi, the linguist

If the summer heat hurts you

And the fall and the cold of winter

And the good time of spring will distract you

So, I take you to the knowledge, tell me: When?!

Great scholars sacrificed all comforts and sought knowledge, We can in Sha’ Allah learn to not give excuses and become serious students for seeking he pleasure of Allah (ﷻ).
