Nāfiʿ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī NuʿaymI

Imām Nāfiʿ: The first of the seven qurrāʾ, originally from Asbahan.

Incident 1: Perfecting his knowledge

Imām Nāfiʿ stated: “I have read to 70 of the Successors” (Tābiʿīn). He studied all the qirāʾāt of the Successors that he had read to and perfected his vast knowledge of qirāʾāt.

Imām Jazari narrated that for 70 years Imām Nāfiʿ taught students to read the Qur’an during days and nights.

Action Points for a student of the Qur’an: We should expand our knowledge and earn different qirāʾāt from different specialized teachers so that our understanding will improve and we will learn in the best way.
