Day 12: 30 Days Excellence Challenge

Tajweed Rule of the Day:
Idgham Naqis (إدغام ناقص):
When a Noon Sakinah (نْ) or Tanween (ً ٍ ٌ) is followed by Ya (ي) or Waw (و), merge the Noon into the next letter with Ghunnah (nasalization) for 2 harakat. This is called Idgham Naqis (incomplete merging). We can find the letter Noon empty, and the next letter will carry a shaddah. We can find the letter Noon empty, and the next letter will carry no shaddah.

Examples for Clarity:

  • Idgham Naqis Examples:

    • مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ → "Minwaraa’ihim" (Noon Sakinah followed by و).

    • غَفُورٌ وَرَحِيمٌ → "Ghafoorunwa Raheem" (Tanween followed by و).

    • مِنْ يَوْمٍ → "Minyawmin" (Noon Sakinah followed by ي).

    • حَكِيمٌ يَعْلَمُ → "Hakeemunya’lamu" (Tanween followed by ي).

Today’s Goal:
Recite Juz 12 and mark every Noon Sakinah or Tanween followed by Ya (ي) or Waw (و). Focus on merging the Noon into the next letter with Ghunnah.
